Hi all I am looking for a replacement sight for my No4 Mk1* Long branch
I would like the ladder sight with the circular dial on top with range increments out to 1300.
My battle sight has been AWOL since buying the rifle, jagged burrs on the base of the flip up sight tells the tale. Now that I know it is missing one I "need" to fix this error!
Within Canada preferred to avoid trouble at the border.

Thanks!

Its called "A Singer sight" or a "MIcrometer sight" also as a "Mk1"

The Long Branch also came with a Mk3 graduated to 1300 yards and a L type set at 300 and 600 respectively.

Yep, either would be legit. But he was specifically asking for the Mk1 Singer. "the ladder sight with the circular dial on top"

I have a micrometer sight as a spare but it needs to be cleaned and lubricated as the thread isn't turning. The scale has a little rust too. It could be restored....it is F stamped. I will soak it in penetrating oil for a while and see what happens.

mmm yes, Singer sight is what I'm after.
I read that these are more accurate than the rest, any truth to this? I have the one stamped Mk3 in Goosic's picture but the battle aperture was broken when I bought the rifle (Didn't know better)
I saw some online out of the UK for 50 pounds or around $80CDN which is almost as much as I paid for the rifle! will the singer rear fit in a number 4 mark 1* Long Branch? I assume I  have to take a micrometer to it to confirm

I wanted one for my Savage. I opted for the one made for the Jungle Carbine. OK so it is only marked to 800 yards but i don't shoot the No.4 further than 600 yards.I have used it for a few years and am very happy with it.

You can find the Mk 1 rear sight on line, I think there even may be a repro available.

The Mk 1 sight in fully machined and incorporates a fine thread screw to raise and lower the slide. It has a one minute of angle click elevation adjustment by turning the knob on top of the sight.  The Mk 3 and 4 are pressed steel construction and has notches on the right side corresponding to the various range markings (in 50 yard or 100 yard increments); not as "adjustable" as the Mk I.  I believe they all have a 0.01 inch diameter aperture on the slide (the battle sight aperture is 0.02 inches).

Any of these sights will fit your LB No. 4 Mk 1* (or any other No. 4 Rifle). But if you intend on shooting in vintage military rifle matches, the Mk 1 sight is what you want.

I have one without the main peep sight. It was intended for my faux No4  T rifle.

If you can't find the one you are looking for, or if Canucks can't be brought back to life, and assuming you have the rear site retaining pin, plunger and spring (no idea if those are the right terms) I have a Mk3 as Goosic described above you would be welcome to. And I live in Canada.

And an L type as Goosic shows... If interested.

I did get that sight cleaned up but it does not click when the wheel is turned so I suspect the tiny spring inside the body of the sight has either broken or rusted out. It will need dismantling and repair.

I may of found a supply of "Parts" rifles that I'll be able to root through to try to find what I need, the guy said he has all sorts of guns but some are in real bad shape, maybe i'll get a tetanus booster-shot before I go!. Thanks for all the info
