Do any of the brain trust fellows here have any real insight into the disappearance of reloading powder and other supplies as well?

Hoarders.   Possibly some shut-downs due to COVID - mfg and retailers.

The powder supply for reloaders has been severely limited due to the increase demand for loaded ammunition.  Also issues with transportation and import into the US.  Much of our powder is made outside of the US.  I don’t think anyone is able to hoard powder anymore, there just isn’t any available.

Same issue with primers.

ironic really , but much of the sporting powders we buy made by hodgdon and IMR actually come from Australian Defence Industries (thales). also sold under ADI's own branding.

Did the lead-up to confiscation in other countries include component shortages?

This shortage of ammunition and components to the civilian masses has me asking if this has something to do with a massive conflict between nations that has yet to show itself?
Was there not a similar ammunition shortage to the civilian market prior to both World Wars?

Probably not.
There were similar shortages when then Pres. Obama started scaring people  threatening confiscation as well.
Its just that a huge increase in demand cant be met by production.

And the production companies won’t tool up to meet the current demand, believing that it will fade as it has done before, and they would be stuck with all the additional production equipment and factory space and layoffs.

I suppose it’s just my nature and experience that causes me to see conspiracy when there isn’t real evidence to lead me there.
There’s just so much wrong with the world right now.

IIRC the last 5 quarters, co-incidentally when the Loony Left lost their collective marbles, NICS checks have doubled, redoubled & then doubled again.
If they're buying guns they're probably buying bullets as well.
Its just a huge surge, driven by fear, that the production facilities simply can't keep up with.

A LOT of people "feel that cold breeze on the backs of their necks" & so are panicking for either massive confiscation, or a real shewtin' hootin' rootin' rootin' civil war in the immediate future.

i can confirm that liberals are buying what they want banned./confiscated , they dont want to be without ? ive had them at the gun range asking to be taught to load and operate the new items they bought , a friend in gun sales said he had one individual pick up a remaining box of ammo from a shelf without any idea what he had and ask for the gun that shot it ,

this will pass but how long depends on a number of things , how hard the dems push , how the senate deals with it , how the courts stand up for the constitution , and not the least of the problems how the trial goes here and what the BLM crowd do in response , not to make MN the center of attention but it is going to be the center of attention real soon ,

I can tell you that the B L M crowd is showing up at ranges in my area.  That’s something I’ve never seen before this year.  Can’t hit the broadside of a barn door, but they are burning up ammo.
