Hi,
I have one of those rare Ishapore rifles that pass the 308 Clymer NoGo gauge. I shot some Russian steel case ammo of several brands and it worked very well, reasonable accuracy and very good feeding/extraction. I also read where many people claim using steel cased ammo in Ishapore 7.62 rifles is a bad idea. Is that only true for when the headspace is too big?

i think , repeate think , most objections to steel cased ammo is related more to the cartridge and less of the rifle , ive not had an issue with the plain steel cased its the lacquered ones that caused issues for me

So you use Russian 308 ammo in an Ishapore 2A/2A1 with no issues?
With today’s prices even the steel stuff is pretty expensive…

i did , a number of yeas ago i divested all three of my ishapore rifles - a mk* , 2A and 2A1 , both of the 308 rifles shot all manner of surplus without issues , the 303 did as well but not any steel case as ive never seen any ,

my exception , as i stated , the laquerd case which also is an issue in the SKS and ARs ,

ive not bought any surplus or any ammo for that matter in a couple years so i cant speak to prices ,
