Yours are a MKII and a MKII * - I have around 110 of them. Mine are a combination of both the MKII and MKII *

The one with the 3rd pip is the MKII, the one without it is the MKII *

Not making them with the 3 pip was to simplify manufacturing and hence the MKII * designation.

MKIs are pretty rare

My guess would be over engineered, it was probably intended as a stopper then realized it wasn`t required, growing pains of designing stuff.

i was thinking a mfgrg detail , but ill go with your explanation , i really did not collect these bits over my time accumulating , i cant explain why i just missed these i guess
