It appears that photos frequently show a top heel patch on Ishapore 2a1 buttstocks.

The patch often appears blonde and either not stained the usual reddish brown or as a newer modification not oil saturated.

I have been unable to ascertain from any source data, or expert opinion as to what species of wood was utilized on Ishapore 2a1s or Ishapore No1 MKllls and if the blonde wood is indicative of an unstained type of subcontinental rosewood?

Clearly from the observation of twisted forends and uncentered front sights that the wood utilized suffered from hot and humid conditions, and if I am lucky enough to find an Ishapore 2 hope to be knowledgeable to restore.

Just as an "in addition" rosewood is used in the fretboards of many stringed musical instruments because of its resistance to wear. Many high quality guitars and mandolins have rosewood fretboards or backs and siides (this because the wood delivers a brilliant clear tone).

Sadly my Ishy is not of rosewood. But many on this site have beautiful highlights and texture.

Guess there is more than one way to use the wood to "make music".
