So I picked up two Pattern 1907 Bayonets, one Wilkinson and one Vickers both originally made in 1917 (rearsenald 1925). The Wilkinson came with the standard scabbard but the Vickers had leather over the metal Locket and Chape. I assume this was a repair or if not for rear escheleon troops either parade and/or formal dress duty. I just can't find any examples so out of curiosity wanted to see if anyone who collects the Pattern 1907 bayonets may know.

A very interesting scabbard. I have never come across anything like it. Probably an effective repair.

Skbshad...

This is certainly a first for me. I've never seen, heard of, or read anything in connection to this type leatherwork. It's certainly not an official modification. My guess is... it's the result of someone relieving a spell of boredom by practicing their leather work skills.

This is MY rifle, there are many like, but this one... is MINE!
