I have been patiently waiting to find an unissued UK made No4 magazine for Frenchie. The reproduction mags made for all of the Navy Arms purchased No4Mk1 rifles are worse than those Promax versions. A local vendor had a unissued No4 magazine show up the other day and after some good old fashioned haggling, we both settled on a price we could both live with. The magazine catch has two stamps that I cannot decipher, one of which is above the F and the other between the F and the crown. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Side Note: Frenchie has a Fazakerley made front and rear sight so I find it very fitting that a Fazakerley made magazine found its way to be a part of her as well.

Nice find! I have an un-issued box of 5 English made magazines in my stash of parts, I should check to see if there are any of these markings on the spine.

If you happen to have an unissued Singer made magazine, It would mean a great deal to me if we could work out an offer to sell or trade?

Do the magazines need to match the rifle exactly? That's the one thing I am missing and don't want to order the wrong thing.

I dont always know what I am talking about but it makes sense to me. So let me be.

bottom line is that yes - these box mags were tuned to each rifle at mfgr , they are not intended as interchangeable - ever , they are not throw away as US box mags were , every psart of an enfield was purpose built as an assembly that works together independent of the other rifles around it , an armorer refitted when needed , or it went to FTR at a factory rebuild facility ,

Just be careful to get a magazine for a No4/No5,(LEFT) not a No1 (RIGHT) they are not interchangeable.
Rear catch & rib & grooves on sides differ to tell which is which
It may need some tweaking to fit a specific rifle, mostly feed lips being slightly bent carefully a LITTLE for good feeding.

The o|o marks is a percentage inspection proof showing it was one of 10% randomly chosen for inspection for spec's and quality.

I think the top mark is an old style proof mark?
