he!!o from the People's Republik of Kalifornia. I'm happy to have found this forum! I've recently been experimenting with reduced loads for plinking at steel 100 yards and under. Cheers Beer

Good evening HammerDown, are you using jacketed or lead projectiles. I have been shooting lead with charges of Red Dot and Unique.  As yet, I am loading 115 grains, 134 grains, 155 grains and 185 grains with varying results. I use these as general critter-gitters and plinking out to 50 yards.

Thanks for the welcome.
For the reduced loads I'm using 123gr plated .311 bullets from Xtreme or Berry's. Keeping them at 2000 fps with 15gr of Unique. The plated projectiles are rated for 2400 fps. Very mild and fun to shoot. My Enfields haven't seen the light of day for many years until recently. Big smile

That load sounds like it has promise. Thus far my favorite is much slower and probably a bit quieter. I like the Accurate Molds 31-134D  with 10 grains of Unique. Not exactly a barn burner at 1300 fps, but fun nonetheless.

Welcome from ATL, GA.

Reduced loads are fantastic for short range practice and plinking.  Very little barrel wear. Plated lead is good too, just load as if cast lead. I’ve got some Berry’s plated .311 bullets somewhere, not sure if I’ve ever loaded any yet.

Total agreement!  Lots of .303 activity at rock bottom cost.

Thanks for the responses and warm welcome. I took the BSA and Savage No4 MkI rifles out today for some fun. It's always a pleasure to cycle an Enfield action. The lighter 123gr bullets functioned flawlessly feeding from the magazine, even with the shorter COAL.
