Hi guys hope you are all well, these little chaps came my way for the collection.
They are .23 short and .23 long brass case with lead bullet centrefire with no headstamp as shown.
I am told they are for the Morris aiming tube and I wondered if thats connected with the .22 morris tube some of you mention fitted to your lee enfields.
As an aside quite a few villages inEngland have a tunnel range still left over from around 120 years ago, there are 2 within 7 miles of me one in Keelby and one in Stallingborough, the Army used to be responsible for licensing ranges and if you study the old licences they were issued for calibres up to .23, I am guessing this was to make the ranges suitable for volunteer detachments to practice when Lords Roberts and Baden Powell started to try improving marksmanship after the Boer War.

"Morris" was a generic name for a sub caliber, full length barrel.

I have A _Peiper rifle in these calibres and used to load for them. and used .22 Hornet cases cut to length  and sized in a Morris die. The bullets were .22 air rifle pellets ( the ones for high power air rifles)
For indoor practice I used a Magnum primer and no powder. For more power I used a charge recommended in Nontes guide and for fun I I used Black Powder.
