I have a Weedon refurbished Remington 1914. Current bolt is an Eddystone manufacture. It closes properly. Purchased a complete Remington all matching bolt for the rifle. Bolt will not close. Stripped the bolt completely, and bare bolt will not close. Looked at the locking lugs. They will not lock completely when camming the bolt closed. Bolt handle will stop at 90 degrees to the receiver. I know that there were spec differences between the three manufacturers, but this is a Remi Bolt, in a Remi receiver, with a Remi barrel. Barrel was counter bored at Weedon, wonder if perhaps barrel threads were set back to fit the Eddystone bolt that came with the rifle. Any thoughts

There was a modification made to P14 bolts compare the locking lugs if one is larger then it was made for the the modification. If the Eddystone Bolt properly headspaces it could well be correct via Weadon process. A star on the receiver does indicate the modified receiver, also check for an electro penciled serial number on the bolt it may match the receiver. My P14 made it through Weadon without the modification

Look at the barrel and bolt is there a * on them? How about the Remington bolt ?

Measured the bolt lugs. The short lug on both bolts is the same. The long lug length is different. the new Remi bolt is longer by a few hundredths. That would account for the fail of the bolt to close. Any thoughts on a remedy? Gently stone the long lug until it will close. The bolt is hardened steel so stoning is probably the only option???????

Thanks for the helpful comments on "my bolt won't close" problem. Have searched the bolt, receiver, and barrel for the "*" mark. It is not found on any of the components. This leads me to the conclusion that the rifle is a "non-prime" MK1 that made it thru the Weedon refurb process. So my search for an un-modified R marked bolt will continue. Thanks to all!
