Hodgdon Powder Company has become the parent company for a number of
pre-existing smokeless powder companies.

Accurate is one company that produces two interesting and accurate powders suitable for the 7.62 cartridgeLT 30 and LT 32.
Of particular interest is LT-30, a powder
developed for the 30BR benchrest cartridge. I have found it capable of startling accuracy with bullets weighing 147-150 grs.

Hodgdon powders seem to be stable at various temperatures. An excellent feature.

LT-30 can also be found at prices somewhat below the higher/inflated prices encountered for smokeless powder at present

My top three powders are all Hodgdon:  Varget, BL-C(2), and H335.  40 grains of Varget paired with 174 gr. SMKs is the perfect load for more than one of my rifles.

Hodgdon does not actually make any powders, they are a distributor of numerous powder manufacturers product.

LT-30 is a fast burn powder, faster than IMR 3031. I hadn’t heard of it before or know anyone using it.  Prices here in the US run similar to other rifle powders. But, sometimes you have to take what you can find, and LT-30 is currently available.

As numerous shooters have found, Varget does very well in the Lee Enfield in both .303 and 7.62 with bullet weights from 168 to 175 grains.  It produces good velocities and top notch accuracy with these bullets.  Varget is made by Australian Defense Industries (ADI) as AR2208.

Accurate LT-30 has a fast burn rate very similar to IMR 4198. Hence, it is more suitable to medium to lighter weight bullets in the range as found in non-match
grade service ammunition: 147-150 grains.
Bullet weights in the 165-170 range work best with reduced powder loading or mid-range target work. In certain parts of the SE, LT 30 has been available and discounted to as much as 50% of the price of more popular powders- per pound.
