Yes! Finally, time for a change in Canada! Trudeau's house of cards is falling quickly. He is being bombarded by calls for his resignation, even by some of his own cabinet ministers.

Pierre Poilievre's Conservative Party should win the most ridings (precincts) and quite possibly might win enough to not have to form a coalition government but don't hold your breath on having them rollback any gun control legislation.

Polieivre has almost the entire country behind him. If there were an election right now - the LIEBERALS would no longer exsist.
The problem is, the "official opposition" will be the separtists (Bloc Quebecois).
The Liberals have dug such a financial deep hole for Canada, who ever takes power next will face a terrible backlash from the public over fiscal constraints.
Everyone is going to feel the pain...then again-one must realize that it would be ALOT worse if it was allowed to continue.

One tends to grow roots. I am glad I made the move to the US from Canada when I was in my 30’s. Doing that later in life becomes exponentially more difficult. Heck, it’s difficult for some to leave the state they live in within the US, let alone move to another country.

I did the move for several reasons. A better job, a better life, better weather and more freedom. Soon, I will have lived in the US as long as I had in Canada.

I think I would find the firearms restrictions and rules in Canada difficult to comply with after living in the US for nearly 30 years.

From a month till i was three i lived in Hawaii. I lived on Guam till I was all most eight.

My Father retired after 33 years of service. Now I lived in Virginia with my Mother and Grandparents. I was a farm boy till I was 17.

Next I went in to the Army. I service in Germany, ROK, and the crap in the Balkans.

Once I left the Army and moved family to Connecticut for sixteen years.

Once my Father passed I moved to South to North Carolina.

I have seen a bit of the world, good and bad.

I like North Carolina the best!

The biggest issue we face now is if trump puts the 25% tariff on everything coming from Canada. Thanx to the liberals, we won`t have the financial means to combat that. It would ruin us.
Threats that amount to black mail if we don`t sort out or boarder issues.
Could be a long game to economically destroy Canada then swoop in and rescue us. What better way to secure one of the largest oil and mineral supplies on planet earth.
In the bigger picture, that`s how I see this playing out. Big brother becoming big bully then big savior.
Be prepared for a lot of refugees headed your way, at least those who can afford it. The rest of us will remain and languish. For me it would be trying to find a place with in our boarder that`s safe-ish. Anywhere out side of Ontario as its now the a$$hole of Canada. God I hate what we`ve become.

Sounds like Trudeau had Carney set up to take the Finance Ministers job after he fired her and moved her to a new cabinet position AFTER she presented the train wreck fall budget update and took the fall for it. Then Commie Freeland threw a wrench into that plan by quitting, not presenting the update AND roasting the manly man Justin. He then offered the job to Carney who said "are you insane? I'm not boarding the Titanic while it's sinking!" He wants the Liberals to fail badly and loose the election, then run for Liberal leader and resurrect the party for the ' 29 election.

Protecting our boarder in such a way is going to be a logistical night mare. I saw an article where people were crossing through a farm which spans both Canadian and US territory. And there`s a lot of that kind of issues from east to west coats. Even small towns where you walk down the street to visit a friend and you`re now in the States.
We have some of the longest unprotected boarder areas in the world. Not sure how we`d accomplish that. I`d be one he!! of a long and expensive fence...
Just do away with the boarder and be done with it, then we`d have the largest country ever, a continental country.

Yeah...in the west theres a coffe shop / cafe. If you sit on one side of the shop - your in Canada, on the other your Stateside.
Your right Shilo - theres places whereby one side of the street is Cdn, t'other is U.S.
How bout the people in B.C.? They have to drive across U.S. property to go to Cdn grocery store...& there is a pocket of U.S. territory inside Manitoba or Sask(Can't remember which). They hafta cross Cdn territory to do the same.

trump suggested becoming the 51st state , but he hinted at governor treado - i think we co0uld do withoiut that ,

Protecting the US from the undesirable illegal immigrants coming from Canada is easy. Everyone is missing the simplist solution. Our Canadian government has to totally vet anyone that wants to immigrate to Canada. They've admitted they don't. Especially the "refugee status" and foreign student visas. And cut back on the number of immigrants. Our country can't handle the influx of basically unskilled new citizens that immediately go on the government teat. Immigrants need to add value to the country, not cost taxpayers. Vet professionals with families first. Doctors, engineers, etc. Canadian universities don't produce these anymore. Just left wing TIK TOKERS, and we already got enough of those.

I am an admitted grammar and spelling **z*.  So far I've done a pretty good job of biting my tongue but can we please stop calling the border a "boarder"?

O.K., now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

When I lived in Canada I was very much in favor of Canada joining the United States but now that I'm a citizen of, and living in the U.S. I'm not so sure.  Only four of the Canadian Premiers are considered conservative and the Prime Minister of Canada is an avowed Leftist and proponent of the "Great Reset".  The last thing America needs is another state or states sending Leftists to our senate.  Further, assuming the new American state of Canada received a proportional share of the House of Representatives, which American state(s) would lose members due to the maximum number of representatives being limited to 435?
Next, and I know this is going to chap some hides but facts are facts.  I lived in Canada for 46 years and the U.S. now for 24.  Since I have moved to the U.S. I have experienced crime twice:  once when my truck's door was 'keyed' and another time when someone stole the antenna off another truck.  Here's the grand total of crime I experienced in Canada:  two homes and one truck burgled, two assaults by street thugs, a hit and run, a truck totalled by a speeding 18 year old, another by a driver on his phone, a lit cigarette purposely dropped on the front seat of a classic car I owned, a Brittany Spaniel I trained for hunting stolen, I could go on and on.  Yes, I know some of you are chomping at the bit to point out the higher murder rate in the U.S. but if you don't live in one of the Liberal Infestation Zones you are unlikely to ever have to worry about being murdered....certainly not worry more than if you lived in Canada.  The medium sized city I live in which is 1/2 hour north of Dallas has only ever had 1 murder and that was in 2017.  We average 2 robberies per year.

Now for healthcare.  I was amazed at the speediness of delivery of healthcare when I first moved to Texas and my doctor ordered an MRI.  The very same day I was contacted by the clinic to schedule my MRI and was told to come in tomorrow.  One day wait for an MRI?  Unheard of in Canada!  Virtually two years to the day ago I received my Prostate cancer diagnosis and the amazing healthcare system in the U.S. kicked into high gear.  In very short order I had my fiducials inserted, a PET scan to ensure no metastases, and 40 rounds of proton therapy combined with 4 Lupron injections.  My cost?  $1,500 which I was very happy to pay for the timeliness and extensiveness of the treatment.  My PSA is currently undetectable.
So, in short why risk losing what we have by importing trouble from elsewhere?  We are about to get the BORDER sorted out and removing the world's detritus from our country. We already have enough of our own Lefties to deal with.

In my opinion, it’s very unlikely Canada would join the US. Quebec would never join, they would loose all the advantages they have in Canada.   For the reasons you pointed out, this is probably a bad idea anyway. If it were to happen, I would think the provinces that decided to join would become states, not just one big state of “Canada”.

The US is not going to annex Canada either.  This is all just political posturing with the aim to reduce the flow of illegal crossings and flow of drugs across the border

I offer a 2nd opinion: as espoused by political sciences prof @ VMI back bout 30 yrs ago:

Alberta & B.C. would form their own country. (warm water ports, suited for the asian trading area, & filthy abundant in natural resources.
Sask & Manitoba would be swallowed whole (maybe become a state - but there isn't very many people living there).
Ontario, because of size & population to become a "protectorate"(Like American Samoa & Peurto Rico).
Quebec - in spite of what they think - would not be able to make it on it's own & appeal to France - who wouldn't want to touch that disaster!
The Maritimes is anyone's guess, but the Newfies have longed for the days when they were independant.(They see us "mainlanders" as a drag on them.)

Of course, the REAL hidden flaw is the Indigenous peoples. They actually own most of Quebec, & alot of other areas..& they know how to fight!
Would be something to watch.

Clive Cussler wrote a book based on the premise "Night Probe" Canada would become part of America, back durng WW2, the treaty was signed, & ratified, creating "The United States Of Canada", but there were only 3 copies, 2 were known to have been destroyed, but the third is simply missing.

"In the midst of an international crisis, Heidi Milligan, a beautiful, brilliant American naval commander, accidentally discovers an obscure reference to the long-buried North American Treaty, a precedent-shattering secret pact between the United States and Great Britain. The President believes that the treaty offers the single shot at salvation for an energy-starved, economically devastated nation, but the only two copies plummeted into the watery depths of the Atlantic in twin disasters long ago. The original document must be found—and the one American who can do the job is Dirk Pitt.

But in London, a daring counterplot is being orchestrated to see that the treaty is never implemented. Brian Shaw, a master spy who has often worked hand in hand with American agents, now confronts his most challenging command. Pitt’s mission: Raise the North American Treaty. Shaw’s mission: Stop Pitt.
"
SPOILER ALERT:
Brian Shaw is a "trade name" for an aging, retired Bond, James bond.

Just got back from Val-Dor QC, I was told in conversation, the natives would take control of all Quebec territory if $hit hits the fan. They pretty much own most of it anyway.
Regardless to whether JT resigns soon, he and the libtards will be gone come October 2025 and good riddance.
Then there will be the fallout from massive fiscal restraints imposed by the new Gov`t to try and save the economic mess JT created and passed on. And on it it goes.

Yes, there is something to be said for electing Conservatives.  Canada and the state of Texas have similar numbers of citizens and very similar GDP's. In 2023 Texas had a budget surplus of $32.7 billion.  They're predicting a least a $20 billion surplus for 2024.  Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas government cut our property taxes by 40% last year.  Our state is thriving as more and more corporations move their headquarters here to take advantage of relatively inexpensive energy, find highly trained (not indoctrinated) graduates of the many prestigious universities here: Baylor, U of T, SMU, TCU, UNT, Rice, Texas Tech, Texas A&M not too mention the dozens of community colleges, and a favorable business climate.  Compare Texas' situation to that of similarly sized blue states or Canada and you have to wonder why does anyone vote Dem or Lib?

Ya maybe a new gov`t will cut us all a check from the liberal slush fund of over a 100 billion dollars. Its all ill gotten tax money anyway. Send it back from whence it came.
That would effectively make us all millionaires. And something like that should happen just in spite of all libtards here.
Apparently this secret fund is there for foreign give aways!!! Its maddening, give it to foreigners, not that most families here are struggling to make ends meet, and an alarming increase in scurvy in our youngins. Makes you kinda want to nuke parliment hill.

I just read that there is 6 (SIX) airports that straddle the Can / U.S. border.
One of them is being closed. Its been there since 1953 - Manitoba / Minnesota border.
The workers do not access customs/ border security as they go about their work.
Thats wild.

These politicians have an interesting arrangement between themselves, the wealthy donors and the media.  They all collude so the politicians get the only thing they want, to remain in power. The politicians do the bidding of the wealthy donors, so they get their money.  The media carries their water and lies because they want the left to remain in power.

It happens on the right too, but there are some differences, particularly with Trump. Pretty much all the main stream media is on the left.
