Acquired this today for $975 which I though was reasonable-ish.
Its an early CLLE .22 conversion in really good condition besides some volley sight parts missing.
BSA made which fits in nicely with my other BSA`s.

Nice. Is it a solid .22 barrel or a .303 with a sleeve?

Looks in good condition.

.22 barrel not an insert. Was told the bore was very good to excellent.
Condition wise, it looks very good based on the all the pictures the seller sent me. Will assess it once it arrives in a few days. Hopefully I wont be disappointed.
Being a private sale on a gun selling site and the lower-ish price convinced me to take a chance.
Gun show prices for these around here are stupid money. Last fall I saw one at a local gun show for nearly 2 grand. Didn`t sell and the price was not negotiable because I tried and was told to move alongShocked
A C no7 at the last Orangeville gun show had a sale price of $2700.. ouch

I think that's really good value! Well done.
The .22's are so much fun to shoot. Generally very accurate as well.
Please post a range report!

I will indeed. I may even unbox it at the range lol, if its not a gazzillion degrees below zero. Its been a brutally cold Jan so far, global warming is over, haha

Ammo what type of 22 are you going to try first?

Thanx Bear, I hope so too, though my eyes with these old irons aint so good. Best to start 25yrds with my magnifiers on Geek
Paddy,
I have cci standard velocity about 2000 rounds left from a 5000 round case I got a yr or so ago.
It`s good ammo and inexpensive compared to others that shoot about the same  for twice the cost.

that is absolutely beautiful , congrats , ive looked for one of those for decades - never even laid eyes on one , i have the shortened Cond II that was intended as a mkI trainer but never saw a full length version , really nice ,

now the quest for missing bits ?

That's a very good price Shiloh, you did well.  I too found that CCI Standard Velocity ammunition was the most accurate in my .22 trainers, an LSA Sht .22 IV and a BSA Sht .22 IV*.  These rifles are exceedingly accurate and from a Lead Sled I can shoot ragged edge groups at 50 yards in an indoor range.

Thanx guys, its been a long search and I happened to see this one on gunpost and pounced.   And it wasn`t too far away, Port Perry, 3hrs as the crow flies. The fellow selling it included shipping, so tracking says Monday morning for delivery.
The search for parts has yielded some results, I found a rear volley sight rummaging through my boxes of what nots, surprise surprise. There are sight protectors at IMA and a couple cut offs on flee bay, but they are spend y.
I posted in the wanted items here hoping someone might be able to help, front sight protector foremost.

She`s in fine shape. It is a commercial BSA no date or WD marks on it any where other than missing front sight protector and the wrong cross screw for the nose cap, I`m quite pleased with my self.
I do have the rear volley and dog bone spring but no upper stud crew to secure the peep arm. I`ll figure that out, probably just make one. Can anyone post a picture of the screw stud so I can see what needs doing.
The wood is in near new condition, but looks to have been refinished some time ago.
The metal finish is immaculate no rust no pitting. The mag is a BSA 10 rounder and the bottom finish is all warn off.
Even has an oiler and a tiny .22 cal pull through, and the leather oiler bumper is present.
The barrel is like new inside and out, BSA .22lr.
I have an 1888 bayonet attached to hold the nose cap in proper position until I sort out the cross screw issue.
All in all very happy with this old rifle.Big smile

Regarding ammo' choice. The CCI is generally a good one to start with.
But I have found that it's worth testing various different brands, because
Enfield's can be a bit picky when it comes to.22 ammunition.
I have 2 x No 8 rifles and the worst ammunition on the test for my first rifle was Eley Team. When I got the second No8 I carried out a similar test. I nearly didn't bother with the Eley, but it was in the bag and it was a nice day, so I thought I will finish of the box.
Turned out to be the most accurate of all in the second rifle. I have two SMLE .22's. They are all great fun. My daughter has been shooting them since she was 7 years old. Great training rifles.

Range tomorrow, Sun`s supposed to show its self, we`ll see.
Fired a couple rounds into a tree just to see how extraction is on this. Flung the spent case out and away with authority. No idea where it landed. At least I won`t have to clear the receiver after every shot or empty the mag. lol

I find the empty case dropping into the empty mag' very useful..
Saves time sweeping up the empties.
Although the No 8's throw them out because the magazine well is taken up by the trigger adjustment mechanism.

Havn`t got to the range yet. January is not being very cooperative this yr.
Was at the range every weekend last January. This year is what we`re locally calling a traditional weather pattern.
Today is cold, snowy and blowing 20-30km/hr increasing to 60-90Km/hr latter on. We got no typical January thaw either so far. Maybe it`ll come in Feb.
Will get there eventually as I`m itching to try this old girl at 25, 50 and 100yrds
Also looking for a target sight as my eyes aren`t so good with the traditional battle type sights any more.

On my truck Enfield I have a white out dot on my front sight and two dots on my rear sight.

It helps for these old eyes.

A Cooey No. 10A would look right at home on your rifle.

Just bought an aperture sight before I saw your post.

First target with this old beast. Back yard, standing/leaning, forearm resting on the blue wobbly plant bracket. 1st 10 shots 6 o-clock hold at btm of bulls eye.
Next 10 shots holding at top of 6 ring. Bull is 2.5" 6 ring is 10". At 25yrds she`s hitting 5" low with CCI std velocity 40gr solids.
I`m sure with decent sights and seated supported it should shoot fine.
Oh and yes thats snow, and lots of it about 4' so far, and lots more to come.

Might get to the range this weekend. Have a couple meetings to attend and may as well bring it along.
The weathers supposed to be a bit warmer and no snow forecasted.
Still waiting on the aperture sight as well. Its been held up in customs since the 5th. They must think its a machine gun...Wacko

I had a Japanese Type38 rifle that was listed as a machine gun and I need to pay $200.00 for a tax stamp.

I called the State Police and told them it was a bolt action rifle that did not need a tax stamp.
