Good luck with your trip A, don't forget to take some survival supplies just in case!
Family dynamics are an odd thing. I grew up with two brothers and a sister, got along well with my older brother, tolerated my younger brother who was a druggee and biker, haven't talked to my sister since my grandfather's funeral when she ransacked his house before his body was cool. So here's the twist: my mother had an affair with a dapper young man who was quite a casanova from which union I was conceived. Fast forward to DNA testing and voila! I found that I have two half brothers and two half sisters, 3 in the U.S. and one in Canada. We all met for the first time about 3 years ago and we all get along great! My mother's and father's promiscuousness turned out to be a great blessing, at least for me. Perhaps the lack of familial baggage from decades of living together and the friction that can happen within a family allows us to get along happily.

Winter, such as it is in the south east, is nearing the end. Signs of spring are appearing. The magnolia is budding out and the camellia tree blossoms are forming. Buds forming on the rose bush too.
Today is a rainy cool day, just 42 deg.
Have a good trip Mike, drive safe.

Winter No 1 Mk2 here. It's currently thick show-fall with about 2" of pitching in the last hour & its supposed to continue heavy for a while. The prediction is 5~8"! In Maryland that will slam dunk everything in the state.

here in Manitoba we are in the middle of a cold snap. It's been highs of -22C/loss -30C for a few days and look like it's gonna last another week. Wouldn't be so bad but it's a brisk West wind.

Lucky me..I have to travel 2 Kitchener on 13th for an MRI...I have to be there by 0500 . Means I hafta leave my humble abode @ 0230..because we have a major winter storm alert for Wed nite Thur morn. Kitchener being in the snowbelt, means a less than pleasurable drive - there or back. Add to that the Manitobe type cold..This won't bode well fer me. (waitin for over a year for the MRI)

Currently listening to a thunderstorm overhead as a cold front moves in. We've had a real up-down-up winter in North Texas with temps going from lows in the twenties to highs in the mid-eighties and back down again.

Oh joy - oh bliss!! Under a major storm warning. It has started to snow (heavily), then temps go up slightly, to give us freezing rain through the night. Then more snow...& I get to try to drive through it all into the snowbelt, where it will be worse! (why me, Lord?) Supposed to snow bigtime Saturday & Sunday, then turn REALLY cold starting Monday through most of the week! Why do I live here?? I could move to Costa Rica or S.America & be warm & live well.(Anyone wanna buy a house cheap?)

I am...for now. Tried to get to Kitchener for the MRI yesterday (@ 0245). The freezing rain forced me to turn back. The snow that came after the freezing rain has made for some treacherous walking. It's ok today..but we're supposed to get dumped on sat & sun w/snow...then the real Bertuzzi hits! Severe cold on tap for the most of next week. AARRGH! Anyone want a house..cheap?

Tuesday is going to be an interesting day for North Texas. We're starting the day off at 47 degrees and steady rain then a cold front arrives and the temp. drops to 14. It'll be a skating rink for a couple of days until a slight warm up starts on Thursday.

Canuck. Sounds like we are locked in the same cold spell here in Manitoba! Looking at the forecast, -38C for the next few nights. -27C for a high today. Then above 0 for the upcoming weekend. Global warming? Can't come fast enough for me!

Man what I`d do for some 50deg rainy weather. Ive now got 10 foot high snow banks along my drive way. Had to get the neighbor to come with his big tractor loader to clean things up. At the point now if we get any more snow, there just isn`t any where to put it. Last time we had a real winter like this was 2015.

I was talking to my Dad yesterday, he said they got a good dump of snow on Wednesday and again over the weekend. It’s been fairly cold too, so at least the snow is light. He’s 94 and still out shoveling snow, he has to get to the wood piles to keep the wood stove going. He’s got a tractor with a blower so he can open up the yard and laneway to get out. He used to keep the 4.5 mile section of private road open, but hopefully someone else can do that.

Another beauty day in this winter wonder land, like, I wonder if this is ever going to stop. Been snow hard again for the last 4 hours. Seems to be no end in sight. I fear I`ll have to build pontoons around my house so it dosn`t drown this spring LOL
The cedar forest across the road from me just looks like a mountain of snow. Wouldn`t want to venture in there, bump a tree and you`d be buried alive.

My Dad has been burning thru the firewood to keep warm up there. Not sure how many cords he’s already gone thru, probably 3 full cords and still more winter to go. He doesn’t tolerate the cold like he used to, and the wood stove is about burned out internally so not as efficient as it once was.

we are at -20f with a foot of snow on the ground , but , this weekend we are headed into the +40sf that will alter the situation drastically , its too soon to expect it to stay - we will just get ice out of this meltdown and not in a good way ,
