A long buried cache of 19th and 20th century weapons has been found buried in the ground at Vancouver's PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) grounds in Vancouver, B.C. Construction crews uncovered several MG08/15's as well as a couple of muzzle loading British 9 Pounders and a WWI German howitzer. The theory is that when the military took over the grounds in 1942 to process Japanese citizens before sending them to internment camps they buried the weapons that had been there for some time. Why? That has been lost to history. A Vancouver Sun newspaper from the Second World War mentions several WWI field pieces captured and brought back to Vancouver as war trophies and held at Hastings Park, now the PNE grounds, were melted down to be used as munitions to "give back" to Jerry. It has been suggested that some veterans hid the weapons to save them for posterity.

interesting , that would seem something that might be thought to do , i had imagined that the war trophy's had resided at a local veterans club and might have been confiscated by the liberal government then "destroyed" by putting them in a seep hole .....but that was my mind wandering about in current politics
