the professor thought he had not made a difference - his dead students came  back to let him know that their last moments of life had been inspired by him , 

im not sure ill go that far with my experiences with professors but i will say two stand oout in my life , 

the foremost was my major professor that hired  me in the first year of architectural school to work in his practice , he taught me a lot and i worked with him for the duration of my college career , he left a mark on me , i owed him a lot in my career because of what he taught me and who he introduced me to , they lall taught me a lot , 

the second was an art teacher that was a professional painter , he taught me to appreciate art in a whole knew light , explained the nuances of brush and spatula techniques the reasons behind the strokes and the direness between art and kitsch , its not made me buy high end art but its made me appreciate it a bit more , 

ive dome enough projects over the years to understand architecture , i also can judge someone's taste by the art they hang , bur im not judgemental .... im open minded .........if you like a velvet elvis portrait in your living room im all for it , 

the other thing both professors taught me was you need to be open to many viewpoints , we dont all think alike , i appreciate their thinking and hope both lived full and fullfilling lives - ill add that i know my architectural pof did - i was near t the end 

I had 2 in Photography school.

One was a hard facts mathematically precise type.

The other, frankly a raving loon.

He has bizarre course settings which frequently diverged almost completely from the syllabus.

He also had his photo critiques, not part of the course where he'd always criticize every image because it didn't contain something that wasn't there.

At the end of the 4 years we were getting to go for our final grades. one guy was handing out mimeographed several page documents. It was a list of all the thinks we'd been critiqued as "Missing" from out classwork images. & to be included in our gadget bags for later use.

It included, but wasn't limited to:

Large rocks to be thrown into water to make ripples.

Old ladies in red raincoats, for color contrast.

Bowling balls. (for developing film evenly, don't ask)

Pairs of Swans.

Clouds.

& a giant folding Fibronacci Sequence diagram. DSo u=our images would all conform to the "Golden Millennium for composition"

The student had his diploma torn up on the stage instead of presenting it to him.
