Hi Guys

asked for info on the ID marks well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just look what I bought the other day it had no sear, no sear spring and a
rusty exterior barrel and no bayonet a little bit of hard work and a lot of
money has put it back to its former glory its a 8/44 Faz and it shoots great I
can't believe my luck so here guys have a look at my baby

is she beautiful or what

Lex,
She's a beauty and congrats - I have a No5 serial number survey going on elsewhere, would you mind contributing your rifles data to this list? I need the S/N prefix + the first two numbers. So for example T44XX - then Year/Date and your done.
Another interesting note to me - I've been looking at a lot of peoples No5's and yours is the first one I have ever seen that has identical wood grain to my own on the fore end along with that soft blonde tone - mine is a 12/45 Faz.
Compare here ...

Hi Tikirocker
Yes no probs use the serial no for your survey, yours is a nice looking tool too The grain does have similarities hope it shoot as well as mine
These no 5s are getting harder to find specially the early ones, so we are lucky to own such a piece of history , I can see that you have a load of hardwear each with a history of its own

Lex,
Thanks mate ... do a search for my name and you can find my No5 thread here for more pics - I refurb'd mine also. Thanks for help with the survey .. by the way my rifle had a very dark bore on it ... plenty of rifling but a sewer pipe. I was lucky enough to buy a brand new No5 barrel mint that was found in storage somewhere in the Indian region for 60 years!
So I have a new No5 barrel to go on mine now. :)
Thanks for your help with the survey ... and I feel very lucky to own the rifles I do and cherish their history and memory of all those who served, many of my family among them.
P.S We'd love to have you contribute your pics at the survey thread here if you get chance ... you're in good company here. http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=52472&p=363402#p363402

Lex1 , i realise this is only the second no5 entry with photos but two things cross my mind ,
first and foremost - is this setting a standard for you future searches/purchases ? do you have an attraction to no5s ? if so i think a BSA is in order - then the variations of the cap/no-cap stock , then the beech/walnut stocks , perhaps one of each in each production year ?
second and as much an observational aside as any valuable input - but does the sun shine there ? or are those storm clouds perpetual ?

A square
I do have a bit of a fetish for No 5s, my wife reckons its an OCD
I would have as many as I could if the police would let me, maybe 1 more with nose cap and walnut stock, if I speak to them nice , things are different over here the police are more strict about firearms, worse luck
Normally its p*ssing down here, but when the sun shines it like heaven
Hope this answers your queries
Lex
PS for Tony
When are we going to get together down at Minsterley? to make a few holes I am going tomorrow for a quick blast

Careful what you ask for mate!! Blighty hasnt seen the likes of OUR lot before! Not even during all the festivities 39 - 45!! I'm sure our "handler" aka:Tony would be GLAD to have you take us for a while!! (probably save him from going to the "leads"!!
But I DON't think Rhino is gonna bring his gator sausage, this time!
what a shame

to be sure - the americans would be every bit the annoyance some found us in the big war , i include canada and mexico in my 'north american' geography BTW , and south america in my generalisations , not that i pretend to speak for them but based on experience ............well , you can put that in order ,
and im sure if our ausie relatives join us there will be hell to pay at your local pub , best think carefully what you wish for - but i do intend to visit one day , yet to be determined when i will be able to financialy swinng it tho
