I recently came across this rifle and could not turn it away. It currently has a synthetic stock that I want to replace, but do not know what to buy, as I am not sure what model Enfield purchased.

BSA Shirley 1943 brought to the US pre-1968...obviously some kind of sporter stock. Safety missing.

interestingyougot there so quickly , im not as certain based onone photo - i agree the M47 says BSA except for what comes after - should be a C , then other stuff me thinks

That's a lot of numbers and stamps, there looks like a faint number stamped below the "england" stamp as well. Wacko

I think extra photos of the rifle are needed. Receiver side and barrel etc.

There are a whole lot of stamps on that wrist and while it does have the BSA M47 I can't really make out much else. Maybe an FTR mark there? Hard to say for sure. Some better detail pictures of all stampings you find will be very helpful.
