Another score from a buddy. As the title implies, it's a Globco Mohawk semi-auto loader in .303 British. Manufactured from an SVT 40 and in great shape. I fired 20 rounds out of it a few months ago on a hunting trip and it functions perfectly. Apparently it likes only 150 grain soft points and has a 5 round magazine. Pictures will come once the rifle is delivered. Anybody else here have one of these rifles? I'd like to know what you all think of these rifles, good, bad or ugly! Well ugly for sure, not the nicest fish in the aquarium, LOL.

dunno bout that..but there is more Chineese there now..than anything else...& there doesn't seem to be an end to it. Property values there have skyrocketed because the Chineese are buying it all up..even an abandoned house - falling down, went 1.4 MILLION. Nobody that's 1st time buyers can get into the market now..& the same thing is happening in Toronto (where Caucasians are actually a minority, now).
Just outside Toronto is Bramalea..which has now become "Bramala-desh". You will have a hard time finding any other ethnic than a Packistani there.
..Even here in Niagara..@ 1st I thot it was a huge influx of Chineese, due to Brock University..but no -its not..they ar buying up property & driving everything up. (I dunno how they all get here & stay, cuz I cant see legal immigration in these numbers).
There is a small property across street from me (was the garage for the new house beside it). Its bin 4 sale for years @ $79,000.(Uninhabitable really, rotten floor-no basement-hydro wires hanging everywhere) Just sold for $104,00!! 8 doors up from me - same thing. Couldn't sell @ $120,00 no basement-garage falling down..listed @ $140,000 & had offers OVER list within 2 hrs of listing..nuts All Chineese

The Oriental populations that are climbing are in Vancouver and Richmond, BC mostly. Where I live that population hasn't expanded into yet.I'm in the country now, farms and cattle ranching. Lakes, mountains and rivers. I avoid going into Vancouver like avoiding the black plague. Nothing there for me at all.

...& you forgot the federal prison.(You - of all people!)

..all ya gotta do is wait.. They'll be along. You can run - but you can't hide. (I will continue to get worse..thanx to Tru-dope & his gang).

Funny thing is - all this $ is coming from mainland China. Folks @ home are funding the folks here. I was always lead to believe that the Chineese didn't have huge amounts of money. Evidentally - I was wrong.
Another thing that I don't understand, is their obsession with brand - name goods. They have to have them. The kids working in the computer store next to me, all drive new BMW, Mercedes & Cadillacs. (The $ is coming from home, not from what they earn!)

Saw one at my range a while back. The fellow seemed to enjoy his experience with that rifle. I didn't get to look at it closely but it sure seemed groovy to me.

Our gold haul from April 13th, 2016. Fraser river gold is mostly fine particulates to flour to small flakes. No large nugets yet but last year I found a nice tear shaped flake that my buddies' wife is having mounted in a piece of jewelery.

wow loks good. most gold i find is still in the quartz. i go to renfrew, oldham and waverly. all old gold mine towns. i mostly go through the piles of stuff waiting (100years ago now) to be crushed.  all the sights have rivers throuh them. i make my own sluces. they are the "bazooka" type

water feeds into pipes with holes in them to keep he bed bubling. heavies sink in he mix, light stuff floats off the top

Except for one sluice which was store bought, we make our own sluices as well. 1 1/2 inch hose feeding from a pump dipped into the river. Works very well. We make and maintain our own equipment. The river is quite high now due to the spring run off but we have a high banker sluice that works for us. It's a lot of work, but nobody said it was going to be easy!

..A Sq: I would..but I'm a techno - saur. (My VCR still flashes 12:00, cuz the young kids round here moved away! )

I gotta thank Rhino - cuz when he was here last time, he brought me a new - unissued recoil pad for the Rifle, the late Barry Coppard - for selling his rifle to me in the first place (that's how I know it was saw service in the Mau Mau festivities), & Canuck - for scooping the bayo etc for me. (Sounds like the speeches @ academy awards )
But I truly am thankful.
If I could just learn to actually HIT something with it!!

But it sure looks "at home" sitting right next to my Vimy Vet!

Finally figured how to load photos using my Windows 10 server. PITA!!!!! Anyhow, this rifle has only a couple small scrapes to the varnish surface, no dents or cracks or anything bad. A little bluing worn off near the muzzle. Nice patina, all original and hardly used at all. It has the original Globe Firearms Ltd. butt plate which looks to be a bakelite or plastic material. The floor plate of the magazine says 'Cal.303 British. The magazine holds 6 rounds of 150 grain soft points and the gas adjustment is set just right to eject spent casings not far from the shooter but loads the next round promptly. The front sight is a Lyman unit.I know most of these rifles were used and used HARD and most I have seen pictures of reflect that. This one is almost pristine. I'm very happy with the rifle and plan on using it sparingly out in the bush as a back-up rifle. Lovely wood grain too, it's just a nice example of the breed, the only .303 British semi-auto loader made. Look up the information on your favorite search engine, there is some information there that will give you more history on the rifle. One thing I did notice is there is no serial# stamped anywhere. The top of the barrel states Globco "MOHAWK" Globe Firearms Ltd. .303 British. It has a 5 groove barrel rifling as well. I believe the maker used brand new #1/Mk3 barrels for these builds. I think the wood is some kind of walnut but I need to investigate that further before determining the exact species of wood. It has rotating sling swivels.

I have a Mohawk I bought years ago, but have never worked up the courage to fire it.  Sadly, Globe used Finn captured SVT-40's to make some of these rifles.  Check to see if it has "SA" in side a square somewhere on it. Smile
