Buddy mentioned he wanted to go varmint shooting next winter as his wife got him an electronic call for Xmas. He said he was going to buy one of the .17 calibers. Buddy beside me said he was in and said he has a .243 he would use. They looked at me and asked if I had a varmint rifle. I said "Yep. .303 Lee Enfield shooting 174gr FMJ's!" Apparently you can get .311 in 125gr to reload. I've never seen them but in my mind would be to light to be accurate in the Lee Enfield. Anybody ever shoot these light weights? Thanks!

no - but the 303 works fine on coyotes here , dont get much chance any more but if you call em in close enough the no5 makes short work of the job ,

I'll have to go back through some of my old reloading data sheets to find the correct load but, Me and an old acquaintance ended up using a 100 grain 32 caliber pistol bullet and backing down the powder charge to where we were using cotton wadding to avoid a flash over. Subsonic speeds but enough thump to flip a bunny rabbit over at 150+ yards...

Forgot to mention. Buddy wants to sell the hides. Not sure if that makes a difference because in my mind anything else but a FMJ would leave an exit hole bigger than Maxine Watters pie hole!

The 125 Gr pills are a bit of a bear to work with. They're originally designed for the AK & SKS but in the L-E they'r very short so you can't get much in the case neck if you want them to feed reliably.

Where I live, Manitoba Canada, you purchase a Trappers License, $10. This entitles you to shoot or trap coyotes, foxes, and trap beaver, mink, weasel, etc. You can take the whole 'yote to guys that'll give you about $40 per. (Less for barn door holes in them!) They skin, stretch, etc and then send them into the Manitoba fur market for sale. Prices have gone up the last few years and we have a lot of coyotes! One municipality is giving a $25 bounty, but you have to live in that area.

As long as you get them youngish & female they're really good. The older they get the gamier they become.

Looks like a snuff tin.

Because it was there, I've used the old Ishapore with 215 gr bullets for coyotes.   Don't give me grief, I know you don't Need 215 gr!  :-)
It's been the case of it was sitting in the corner when coyotes appeared in the fields below the house, so open the window and let fly.
I know where it shoots with these rounds, and got  a pair of coyotes with 2 shots in the next field, but no more than 150 yards away.
One Was unlucky, he was about 300 yards.  As I fired I thought I should have given a bit more elevation but it was too late;
Saw the bullet hit the ground  about 50 yards in front of him, but it skipped and killed him dead as mutton!  Wasn't his day it seems.
Shot a lot of coyotes with that rifle.

Its NOT a "snuff Tin"..it's packed in the black "hockey puck" container (Blocks out light - which destroys spices - & seals to keep out air -again, the destroyer of spices.
This stuff is out of this world! Its used on EVERYTHING you can think of, even BACON!!
But back to varmints...aint a .303 a tad heavy for a rabbit or a ground hog? I mean, geeze...you'd have to like the bullet to get anything

Hey if it goes bang it will kill.  I would think however that most suitable for calibre bullets for the LE would be pelt shredders.  Are .32 pistol bullets be very accurate in the .303?   My coyote round is a 60 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip running around 2800 fps in a .223 Rem.  A good coyote bullet has to expand reliably at distances out to 300 meters so it stays inside the animal rather than blowing out the other side.  I would prefer a .243 for the long shots but they are not legal for coyotes here.
