Just got back from the range. Took my No5 Battle Carbine, some 215 gr RN I loaded up with 37.5 gr of H335, my rest and a paper plate. 50 yd three shot group... 2.23" with two .82 apart. I'm very satisfied. This load is definitely not for the weak hearted! It is a thumper!

That sounds great actually! I'd be more than happy with those results and around these parts a 50 yard shot on game is the reality.

Thanks Canuck. I had shot some 180 gr Rn with this rifle a month ago at 100 yds and got similar results. I would feel very comfortable shooting this at that range... and would not want to be on the receiving end! My next project is to work test a 180 gr Pro Hunter load for my No4 Mk2 sniper clone. I have 12 loaded with 38 gr of H4895 and 12 loaded with 39. Next week!

Idunno..I cant hit nowt with my No5. My hunt pard will grab it & bull @ 50 yds & pronounce it "spot on". (I'm liable to bring down an aircraft with it!! ).

Being retired helps! Me biggest decision is to wether go drop a line in the river or go to the range... or go for a motorcycle ride!!

Back in about 1984, I shot a big bull moose with a factory 215 grain Dominion RN bullet out of my No5.
The first shot was about 60 yds,  to the left  broadside of the moose, it went through both lungs and rested up against the hide in the offside. My second shot was on the right broadside when it turned to walk away, it also went through and stopped on the offside under the hide.
I didn't need to shoot again, it fell over  and rolled once down a short bank.
Upon skinning it out, I found that both bullets  had gone through both lungs on both shots.
A double double lung shot from the old Brit, the moose never had a chance.
It was the toughest moose I ever ate, even the burger bounced back when you chewed it.

Awesome! So at 60-ish yards, those 215 gr steam boats didn't exit, but deposited all energy within the beast?

The distance could have been a bit longer, I didn't want to over exaggerate the distance.
The result was very good with both shots, only one was needed, but I didn't know that at the time.
