The Ching Sling on my No4 Mk2 is getting tired & is ready to retire.
I've been toying with a few upgrades to its replacement.
I like the Ching concept & the way it works with the Main screw's third sling swivel. I have found one or two things I think I can improve on or add functionality with though.
Basically instead of a single strap from the center of the sling to the Main screw I'm going with an actual loop this time.
The idea is to give a better "hasty" sling like the original, or use the loop there to make a single point target type sling.
I've also added a second limit stop for forward motion of the attachment between the 2 straps (or loops) which should make left side butt up carry easier & more comfortable.
I'm still prototyping it out & may reduce or eliminate some of the hardware if it proves unnecessary.

“Singhiz Thingz “ (Sling his things)

With apologies to “The Goons” & Major Denis Bloodnok late of the 3rd Disgusting Fusiliers, OBE, MT, MT and MT" (Seagoon asks what the MTs are for, to which Bloodnok responds "I get tuppence on each of them"). Also said to be a former member of the 3rd Mounted NAAFI, and the 3rd Regular Army Deserters, late of Zsa Zsa Gabor's Third Regular Husbands".

An improvement on the existing “Ching Sling” correcting problems & adding new features.

Change: Reason Advantage

No metal fittings ~ Hidden rust Eliminated.

No Chicago screws ~ Internal rusting Eliminated

Second (front) stop ~ butt up carry (left) Enabled

Single sling strap looped ~ adds single point ability Created

Wider range of adjustments ~ For summer/winter clothing Front & rear on “carry Strap” & length

on “target strap” loop.

Added usable positions ~ Now has “Single point” ability Using Enfield “sniper (central) Swivel.

Pics to follow.

Here's the original for those unfamiliar with the Ching

& this is the prototype of the proposed "improvement"Big smile
I fully expect some fiddling to get it trouble shot, but at a first fitting it seems doable.

Interesting project!
However in France; our Service Rifle competions require standard military slings. Plus only two mounting points.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
