A couple of years ago a friend of mine looked at a Swedish Sniper rifle on a dealers stall. He was told that it had come from a house in Germany at the end of WW2 and was kept by the person who brought it to UK until a few weeks ago.
My friend, who is a Firearms dealer and well versed in sniper rifles, pointed out 2 letters (EK) stamped on the scope mounts. They were his initials and he had built the rifle some weeks earlier.

Buy the weapon not the story.
