Did you know that Mr.Garand (designer of the M-1) was a French Canadian?
He then moved to the States & lived the rest of his life in the U.S.

Since he was bilingual he evaluated French arms during WWI and there are some design simularities between the RSC 1918 and the Garand.

IIRC, he also had something to do with the M-14. He made nothing off of his patents to the U.S. military
