Went to the range this morning to finish setting up and sighting in the 7.62mm converted No4Mk1/2 Maltby from its last foray.
Range conditions were, @ 0730 hrs. Sunny, 82° with 32% humidity and southwest winds at 11 mph. Ammunition used: Sierra 168grn .308 BTHP , 41.7gr IMR4064,  No.GM215M primers, Lake City brass, C.O.L 2.800". Initial testing was done at the 100 yard mark.  The cold bore shot was almost dead center with the remaining nine shots 1.5" below the first. I made the necessary adjustments to the scope and moved out to the 200 yard mark and got to work. It should be noted here that the rifle was warmed up and the ten shot grouping shows a pronounced vertical displacement as opposed to a horizontal spread. Muzzle velocity average was 2680 fps. It will never be a tack driver but I know that I could take someone down from another zip code if I have to.

Nice shooting!

2 inches at 200 yards, that’s outstanding.  What’s the scope power?

I figure your handloads are likely accurate to .3 to .5 MOA, the rifle is then shooting .5 to .7 MOA, including any shooter error.  With a scope, your aiming error + any movement of the rifle during striker release is probably less than .2 MOA.  That brings the accuracy of rifle alone to .3 to .5 MOA.  Just my own estimates, it’s hard to isolate these individual contributions.

The scope is a LUCID 6-24×50 with side focus out to infinity. I set it to 24 power and kept aiming at the same spot until cease fire was called. I know the horizontal spread was all me. My breathing was a tad off due to some Combat Carl wannabe to the bench left of me with a full camouflaged AR flattop reliving his childhood memories of being a one man army and putting as much lead down range as possible, hoping he hit something.

All ways well turned out rifle and gear Goosic.

MY bench always looks like a HOBO camp site.

Our current setup is divided into 90 minute blocks and you have to pay in advance online so i only brought the one rifle.  I would have brought the faux No4 T and the faux No9 but it is not worth the effort right now.

My days of hauling two and three or more arms are long gone.

I have tried to used the book ahead for a shooting position has failed twice.

We know that one house is still standing but nothing about damage. Family is still camping at the beach, no hotels available.

I'm bummed but hoping to try my restored T  soon.

Everyone is safe but nervous.
