It looks like a single point target sling.
The loop goes round your left (assuming right handed) arm above the bicep. Once the loop & sling length are set it stays there, held in place by the bicep. The hook on the other end goes onto the center "target" sling right in front of the magazine, using the clip on the end. Similar to this, sorry I can't find a good image of it in use. |

i quit collecting US arms and accoutrements a good number of years ago , divested the long arms except the M16 & M14type retained the handguns & their holster/belts -so far- i spent the money on commonwealth items , i like the old ones , but i have nothing newer than WWII/korea in those it is why i asked and why i admire your no4s in the OP
i do have my belgian FAL but as its metric i do not consider it part of my commonwealth collection ,

OMG it is the STANAG MoD L42 sling.
A great idea that was horrid in use. Rare as rocking horse poo and Peter Laidler would say. |

This is the experimental target sling. This one is a repro or copy. I had a line on an original from NZ years ago at $350 shipped. I would use this one on my shooter #4T any day over the nylon L42 sling. I prefer the canvas standard Enfield sling because it is soft and comfortable.
At $130 it just is out of the question as I down size the collection. |
