The real problem is not with the scope height for a good weld, but as low as you can go without fouling the cocking piece when cycling the bolt, or bashing your thumb on the rear bell of the scope.
This was my best compromise. ![]() |

I had an Addley mount. I liked it. Reminded me of a PH mount. I also have a S&K mount I like better. It's shown here on my No5 for visual references.

Macd, I haven't personally handled the Addley yet, but by appearances it looks to be about the same as the Sun Optics. I has already installed a walnut cheek piece to this rifle, so line of site will be excellent. The Addley mount required the ladder site to be removed (same as the Sun Optics which I already had removed) and they supply a peep that is part of the mount. It's calibrated to 300 yds, same as the original battle site.

How far above bore will your centre of scope be with this mount? I echo your comments on sun optics mount but the ADI I have is rigid. I like the idea with the Addley mount about still being able to use the peep sights.

I have two of those mounts I swear by them. Very solidly built.

Just ordered a new mount for my Enfield Parker Hale from Addley. I had saw on this forum there was a good discussion a few years ago on them. Sounded pretty positive. The current Sun Optics mount I have on it is flimsy and the forward three inches of rail are unsupported. Like a diving board. I can actually push down on the end of the scope and see it flex.
