   My father fought in North Africa, he was sent out in 1938 served in both sieges of Tobruk, wounded and then served with the Austrailians during the push towards the Atlantic and then through Sicily and Italy. He always said that his favourite weapons were a Webley revolver (He brought two back), a Canadian Ross rifle, an American Thompson sub-machine gun (50rnd drum mag), German stick grenades and an Italian small tank.
