I remember in a thread a while back, there's someone who will use this propellant, when he's out of everything else. Ying%20Yang
I use it almost exclusively in all my rifles, with very good results.
What is the issue with it?

Smokey I have used it and I like the ballistics. The only thing I dislike it does leave alot of powder residue in the barrel.

I'm with CM on this I have never liked Winchester powders as to the fouling they leave in the Barrel ! I used to use 785 years ago & can't complain about the results !

Dave you could not beat the balistics shot very well with good results. I like winchester powders in my over and under shotgun for bird hunting. However in auto loaders it get kind of dirty and requires a little more time to clean up.

So its powder fouling!
I haven't noticed fouling much, but I also load towards the "hot" side, so I might be burning it better. I also use it with the heavier bullets.
In my Swiss K31 Rifle I use 50 gr WW760 with a 180gr bullet. I get nice round 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards, with the iron sights. No pressure signs at all.

Winchester powders. Like our ADI powders seem to work best in my experience where the load takes up most of the case capacity. Also I never liked having to use magnum primers as,I found this shortens case life by expanding the primer pocket, but I'll admit this is really splitting straws ,at the end of the day .

used 760 today in a load for one of my Martini Enfields. 40grns behind a 150grn SP Hornaday. Chronyed at 1800ft/sec, grouped all in the black @ 80yds and Oh So comforable to shoot. As a reduced load for my oldies it seems to be spot on.

Hard to tell Smokey. This rifle had a rough black bore to start with and is getting better with each outing. I run a patch soaked in Sweets through, left it for 5 mins, a couple of strokes with a bristle brush and then about 5 dry patches. The patches were black to start with but soon cleaned up. I will try a different powder, see what difference it makes and post the results.

There is a foam on the market over here called Forresters. You squirt the foam up the barrel from the breech until it spills out the muzzle leave it for an hour then run patches through. Amazing what it shifts it may be worth looking into if you can get it over there.

Tony,
There is a cleaning foam manufactured by "GunSlick" that does the same exact thing. After chatting with you awhile back about that foam you use I went and found some here locally. I'm sure it is close to the samething you have there.

Cookie Monster, Break free makes a foam like that. I used it on the Rifle that I got from you when you were down here the first time. I like the stuff, its easier to use and less messy. I usually follow up with Benchwood casy's bore solvent just to make sure. and to get at any stubborn fouling.

The little can of Breakfree Foam really lasted me a long time. and the great thing about it is you dont have a bottle to spill all over every thing...

Actually I use Hoppes No 9 to clean the bore. I leave a good film, let it sit for a while, wipe it out, repeat. I coat the bore with break-free as a preservative when I'm done.
