Acquired this today for $975 which I though was reasonable-ish.
Its an early CLLE .22 conversion in really good condition besides some volley sight parts missing.
BSA made which fits in nicely with my other BSA`s.

Nice. Is it a solid .22 barrel or a .303 with a sleeve?

Looks in good condition.

.22 barrel not an insert. Was told the bore was very good to excellent.
Condition wise, it looks very good based on the all the pictures the seller sent me. Will assess it once it arrives in a few days. Hopefully I wont be disappointed.
Being a private sale on a gun selling site and the lower-ish price convinced me to take a chance.
Gun show prices for these around here are stupid money. Last fall I saw one at a local gun show for nearly 2 grand. Didn`t sell and the price was not negotiable because I tried and was told to move alongShocked
A C no7 at the last Orangeville gun show had a sale price of $2700.. ouch

I think that's really good value! Well done.
The .22's are so much fun to shoot. Generally very accurate as well.
Please post a range report!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

I will indeed. I may even unbox it at the range lol, if its not a gazzillion degrees below zero. Its been a brutally cold Jan so far, global warming is over, haha

That's a heck of a pickup, shiloh. It sure looks nice and I hope she shoots as good as she looks.

Ammo what type of 22 are you going to try first?

Thanx Bear, I hope so too, though my eyes with these old irons aint so good. Best to start 25yrds with my magnifiers on Geek
Paddy,
I have cci standard velocity about 2000 rounds left from a 5000 round case I got a yr or so ago.
It`s good ammo and inexpensive compared to others that shoot about the same  for twice the cost.

That's a very good price Shiloh, you did well.  I too found that CCI Standard Velocity ammunition was the most accurate in my .22 trainers, an LSA Sht .22 IV and a BSA Sht .22 IV*.  These rifles are exceedingly accurate and from a Lead Sled I can shoot ragged edge groups at 50 yards in an indoor range.

Thanx guys, its been a long search and I happened to see this one on gunpost and pounced.   And it wasn`t too far away, Port Perry, 3hrs as the crow flies. The fellow selling it included shipping, so tracking says Monday morning for delivery.
The search for parts has yielded some results, I found a rear volley sight rummaging through my boxes of what nots, surprise surprise. There are sight protectors at IMA and a couple cut offs on flee bay, but they are spend y.
I posted in the wanted items here hoping someone might be able to help, front sight protector foremost.

She`s in fine shape. It is a commercial BSA no date or WD marks on it any where other than missing front sight protector and the wrong cross screw for the nose cap, I`m quite pleased with my self.
I do have the rear volley and dog bone spring but no upper stud crew to secure the peep arm. I`ll figure that out, probably just make one. Can anyone post a picture of the screw stud so I can see what needs doing.
The wood is in near new condition, but looks to have been refinished some time ago.
The metal finish is immaculate no rust no pitting. The mag is a BSA 10 rounder and the bottom finish is all warn off.
Even has an oiler and a tiny .22 cal pull through, and the leather oiler bumper is present.
The barrel is like new inside and out, BSA .22lr.
I have an 1888 bayonet attached to hold the nose cap in proper position until I sort out the cross screw issue.
All in all very happy with this old rifle.Big smile
