Check out this video by Ian McCollum regarding the prototype Ishapore "Jungle Carbine".

Check your forend!
Really!
Many of these forends were cut down with a chop saw.
Then glued back together!
If they'd used a glued & screwed dowel it might have been nice, Particularly with a cross screwed bolt or something, maybe a piece of that "threaded wire"!

They are kinda kewl I admit, I have a Sporterised  No5 Mk1 "Jungle Carbine", I call it my "Goobermint model Sporter" & I actually like it a lot.
Unfortunately many of the post-war conversions weren't that well done & I have seen the entire front wood & muzzle cap go "downrange" when the glue fails!
Shocked

while that video is very entertaining , i question a lot of what was given in info , first i never heard of an ishapore jungle carbine , only the brit and ausie , i suspect they might have developed something far later using early production parts donors , i also suspect gibbs and santa fe might have done this - i dont care what an auction house might say , it aint necessarily true as the moody blues said , prove this with researched data ,

the no 6 rifle was an austrailian rifle , second the bayonet lug they show is the one developed for the no2 and no2A! of a lot later date than the 40s , i question the nomenclature , but as always i could be wrong as i have been in the past ,

he references those but i still question this as its never been discussed on any forum now referenced in any reference book im aware of not that it couldnt have been overlooked ,

"Prototype" as in we tried this, but it never went into production.

Saw in another thread you were headed for the range last weekend - so?  How did it go?
