storms are going south and the jet stream is south across kansas , iowa , illinois , so we are getting the canadian air , its looking to hit 20 below tonight with wind chill at -28 , but tomorrow im headed south to iowa to visit my two siblings - first time in a couple years now , ill be driving in my new to me suburban so i dont care what temp it is , first long trip in the new truck ,
we are not close but we are not distant either , all very amiable and far less issues than ive ever encountered with my wifes family [much larger than mine]

Good luck with your trip A, don't forget to take some survival supplies just in case!
Family dynamics are an odd thing. I grew up with two brothers and a sister, got along well with my older brother, tolerated my younger brother who was a druggee and biker, haven't talked to my sister since my grandfather's funeral when she ransacked his house before his body was cool. So here's the twist: my mother had an affair with a dapper young man who was quite a casanova from which union I was conceived. Fast forward to DNA testing and voila! I found that I have two half brothers and two half sisters, 3 in the U.S. and one in Canada. We all met for the first time about 3 years ago and we all get along great! My mother's and father's promiscuousness turned out to be a great blessing, at least for me. Perhaps the lack of familial baggage from decades of living together and the friction that can happen within a family allows us to get along happily.

Winter, such as it is in the south east, is nearing the end. Signs of spring are appearing. The magnolia is budding out and the camellia tree blossoms are forming. Buds forming on the rose bush too.
Today is a rainy cool day, just 42 deg. Have a good trip Mike, drive safe.

Woke up to -21 F this morning. Did get above zero this afternoon. Should be the last bad cold snap of the winter by the looks of it.

Winter No 1 Mk2 here. It's currently thick show-fall with about 2" of pitching in the last hour & its supposed to continue heavy for a while. The prediction is 5~8"! In Maryland that will slam dunk everything in the state.

here in Manitoba we are in the middle of a cold snap. It's been highs of -22C/loss -30C for a few days and look like it's gonna last another week. Wouldn't be so bad but it's a brisk West wind.

Lucky me..I have to travel 2 Kitchener on 13th for an MRI...I have to be there by 0500
. Means I hafta leave my humble abode @ 0230..because we have a major winter storm alert for Wed nite Thur morn. Kitchener being in the snowbelt, means a less than pleasurable drive - there or back. Add to that the Manitobe type cold..This won't bode well fer me. (waitin for over a year for the MRI)

Currently listening to a thunderstorm overhead as a cold front moves in. We've had a real up-down-up winter in North Texas with temps going from lows in the twenties to highs in the mid-eighties and back down again.

Oh joy - oh bliss!! Under a major storm warning. It has started to snow (heavily), then temps go up slightly, to give us freezing rain through the night. Then more snow...& I get to try to drive through it all into the snowbelt, where it will be worse!
(why me, Lord?)Supposed to snow bigtime Saturday & Sunday, then turn REALLY cold starting Monday through most of the week! Why do I live here?? I could move to Costa Rica or S.America & be warm & live well.(Anyone wanna buy a house cheap?)

Come with me up to the "la yucayeque Villar De Lelo" up in the Cordillera Central The Dominican Republic. Lovely people, feasting on Barbacoa & no one outside of the area will ever know we are there. ![]() |
