Been toying with the idea of buying and restoring a late `30`s -early `40`s No1. I found a 1943 for $350 sported but will need everything. So basically a barreled action and butt plate. All the wood is badly knackered.
I`m not sure it can be done anymore at today`s parts cost. Well here in Canada anyway.

Not trying to rub it in but I’ve just bought a 1944 No5, in prestige condition for £775, here in the Uk. 

But spare for all Enfield are on the rise even here.

How much of the forearm is left? Liberty firearms used to sell ten inch for arm sections.

Finding good wood can be hard.

I’d have to get s tape measure on it, but it hasn’t been messed with so it should be normal length

 Almost no business in the states will ship gun parts to Canada. That`s the biggest issue.

 When and if you find parts here in Canada you get raped. The other day I got a screw for one of my enfields a single screw, that set me back $25. Why because I needed it and the vendors know how to play economics. 
It`s no longer relaxing beneficial hobby, its big business. There seems to be no more pay it forward, but rather, find the unawares and kick `em squarely in nutz. Ouch

Thats like $13-1400 in Canadian dollars, a little on the high side for a really really nice one here.
But they are slowly going up again. They peeked here a couple years ago, then they were everywhere, people trying to cash in. But that`s slowed down some now.
Average is around $900-$1200, auction houses fetch higher prices because people are desperate and stupid using those venues.

...and to think, I only paid $250 CDN for mine. (& I got the story from the guy that carried it in the Maw Maw.)

I obtained one in 1968 for $200.00 CND in St John. No paperwork. Was my first Enfield, still have it.

It was a small show and went with my Uncle Morris. He played for half.

I tried to sell a stock set to a member in Canada a few years ago Customs seized and destroyed it stopping "Arms Trafficing" was the excuse

Paddy, don’t you mean $20.00 CDN? That would be about right for 1968.

The one and only No5 I`ve had, I bought s few yrs back, paid $250. It`s a Faz built, 08/44 all matching.
Since then I`ve used it as a test bed for trying to tame its voracious recoil.
I succeeded and it now sports an M14/A1 flash hider/muzzle break and a No4 butt stock with an adjustable recoil dampening butt plate like those used on clay guns. Oh and for shyts and giggles modified the right rear receiver to mount a No4T scope mount.
She`s now an absolute pussy cat to shoot, even with full load 180gr bullets. Accuracy is way up with the scope. Fun gun and looks way cool, gets a lot of looks and Q`s at the range.
I know, why destroy a perfectly good rifle? So I can shoot it and enjoy it. I can always get another if I want one for display I guess. But at today`s prices, that probably won`t happen.

It sounds like you have more restrictions on transporting weapon parts than the Uk. Just the silly , no semi auto over .22lr.
